I have asked bout this before, in 2022. Is it implemented yet or will it be included in v9?
Dragging a complete block was not implemented.
The last step was dragging multiple footprints (introduced in v8 and working). No more improvements on this topic in v9.
OK, in the latest 8.99 it’s not even possible to mark a block of components and move them even without any routing included/moved. Probably because it’s a beta.
The problem with moving/dragging selections in v8.99 was reported yesterday: dragging a bigger selection with mouse does not work (#19166) · Issues · KiCad / KiCad Source Code / kicad · GitLab
But even after a fix for this issue the feature “drag a complete block with rubberbanding tracks” will not be available in v8.99/v9.
note: v8.99 is the nightly development version, it’s (currently) not meant for production use. It’s already in feature freeze state, but not yet ready for a official v9 release candidate. (see Will we get any V9 release candidates over Xmas? for small informations).
Yea, I know 8.99 is development version and is not recommended for production projects.
Good to see block move, of at least components, works from the 8.99 version released today
