As V9 is in a feature freeze, will we be getting a release candidate to play around with over the Xmas break? It would be good to start using the new features in a few projects of mine. Thanks.
Start reporting bugs now so that they can be fixed before Christmas.

Probably, but we haven’t decided on an exact schedule yet.
Only if you have been a good KiCad kid.
As I see it, you’d be better off with 8.99 in feature freeze, as bugs may be fixed on a nightly basis; whereas 9.0.0 rc1 would have to wait for 9.0.0 rc2 for bug fixes.
Does this reasoning seem correct?
I thought it did . . . then I thought some more. Once the 9 rc is is out won’t the new nightly be 9.99 ?
I doubt new features will be added to the development branch until V9.0.0 has happened
No, there will still be nightlies but we will only be fixing bugs found in the RC until the final release is out.
If (a big “if” ) my memory serves me correctly, regarding previous major releases, 9.99 won’t start 'till 9.0.0 is released.
