Hello,
I’m trying to figure out how to use Buses to route signals across several pages to different destinations. I’ve got a fairly large set of wires defined into a bus, and the signals must connect together several sets of terminal blocks for access.
I started by creating a bus alias bus using the Bus Alias Definition window in the Schematic Setup Dialog, adding something like 70 wires to this bus. I then connected together two banks of terminal blocks (Bank A and Bank B) using the bus alias buses I just defined. So far, so good, was able to connect every signal on Bank A to its pair on Bank B. Connections confirmed by using Highlight Nets tool.
And then my problems began. There are several sets of connections that represent ethernet connections, at 8 wires apiece. These signals need be routed to ethernet connectors, which are drawn on a separate page of the schematic. Therefore, I need to get signals from the first page over to the second page. Just drawing the named alias bus on the second page did not connect the signals to the new page. Thinking Global Labels would be the appropriate way to bridge the existing signals to a new page, I tried implementing a full set of Global Labels I could then use on the second page to connect to the first. This has been hit or miss; sometimes a global label will show connection to its partner on the first page, and sometimes it doesn’t.
Does this sound like a problem anyone else had encountered? Have I given enough information? I’d appreciate any hints or help that will get me back on track.
