In the PCB editor, the Tools menu for “update PCB from Schematic…” is grayed out and won’t activate. What is the problem?
It could be that you are running the pcb editor in standalone mode. You should first start the main kicad project manager and only with a opened project the connectivity between schematic editor <–> pcb editor is established.
two remarks for a new user:

- if you open a new topic please write the used kicad version. The answer to your question may depend on the used kicad version.

Thank you. That seems to have been the problem. I had to start over several times and on the last start I seem to have gotten out of the main KiCad project manager. Also, thank you for the New Member Information. I didn’t know about it!
When you post a problem like this, always capture your KiCad and OS details
