Multi-Footpint attribution

Hello, a quick question on the attribution of 2 types of prints for the same symbol?
In fact, I have a potentiometer that can have two different cases.
One solution is to put 2 pots in parallel but it overloads the schematic.
How to do?

I make a new footprint with duplicated pin numbers, two pins number 1, two pins number 2, and so on.

What if you have two parts "in parallel"

Say you have a board where only one of two chips will be actually installed, but could be either one. But this means that in the schematic two output pins will be on the same net and ERC will complain. So, live with the ERC warnings for those two chips? Or is there a special symbol like a 0 ohm jumper that takes no room that you can put in series with both outputs and avoids the warning?

Thanks it’s an alternative but you need to create again a merged footprint.

Just let them overlap and live with the warning. Or create a combined footprint as suggested.

Thank you kenyapcomau, that’s what I choose, it works but I thought there was another possibility. For example, a second ‘optional’ field for assigning additional footprint to the properties of the component. Maybe on future release …
