Locked footprints are pink and cannot be selected

Recently upgraded to KiCad 7. Locked footprints are highlighted in pink.

How can I:

a) disable the distracting pink highlighting of locked items
b) make it so I can select locked items like normal

Thanks in advance for your help!

edit: found the #2 toggle under the Apperance manager selection filter? I don’t even know how I opened this menu, but OK. Now to hunt down #1

This solves it. Thanks again, paulvdh – I think it’s you who answers just about all of my questions around here. I appreciate the help a lot.

You’ve found by double clicking the colored square, the color can be changed?

I have now. The Appearance pane has changed significantly and it’s taking some getting used to.

The ‘opacity’ slider (when selecting the colour) can be changed to make it less in-your-face, but it is not “sticky” (a bug - I’m on ubuntu 20, kicad v7.0). Haven’t bothered to find out exactly when it reverts back to full strength (too many other things to do), but no doubt someone will get around to fixing it at some stage, and it really is just an annoyance, not a show-stopper.
