KiCad7's simulation editor

Thank you for your help.
In KiCad7’s simulation editor, the “type” of “built-in SPICE model” is
There are vbic'', Gummel-Poon’‘, and ``HICUM level 2’’ in the pull-down menu.
Please tell me the meaning of these three options.
The parts are “PNP BJT” and “NPN BJT”.
In addition, the operational amplifier “AD820ANZ” is a simulation editor,
Wouldn’t it be better to fill in “Load SPICE model from file”?

If you are on simulation only (no productive PCB design), may I suggest that you update to KiCad 7.99 nightly, which has a much improved simulator interface?

There is no ‘Simulation Editor’.
Do you mean ‘Simulation Model Editor’?

VBIC, GP, and HiCUM2 are three different bipolar transistor models offered by ngspice. When selecting one of them as Built-in SPICE model, you may then simulate by using the respective built in default model parameter set offered by ngspice as well.

Typically the GP model is used, VBIC and HiCUM are for specialists and IC designers. For details you will have to search for and read the scientific literature on the three models.

I do not understand this sentence.

I do not find a AD820 symbol in the 7.0.9 symbol library. There is also no SPICE model for this OpAmp distributed with KiCad/ngspice.

So you have to grab and select a similar symbol (maybe a generic OpAmp symbol). Then you have to search for and download a SPICE model for this OpAmp (AD820 Datasheet and Product Info | Analog Devices). Then you have to attach the model to the symbol (via ‘SPICE model from File’ in the ‘Simulation Model Editor’), not to forget choosing the appropriate Pin Assignment.

Thank you very much.

It does not help nobody to mark your own “thank you” post as the solution.
The intention of this “solution” mark is so others can quicly identify the post that has the best answer to your question. This is mainly useful for others who are searching the forum for answers to their own questions. So I unmarked your post, and marked holgers post as the solution instead.

I am sorry.
I’ll be careful.
