Every now and then a thread about BOM generation appears. Kicad v7 added a simple way to export the symbol fields table from schematic to csv. This post explains how to use this little mentioned feature.
The new csv-export in the “Symbol Fields Table” dialog can act as an easy BOM function. It is difficult to customize, and the dialog looses it’s setting each time it is used, but it works simply and without scripts:
- Open symbol fields table
- Check/uncheck the wanted fields
- Check/uncheck the “group”-checkbox
- Be aware: ignores column order
- Be aware: ignores row sorting
- Click “export as csv”
