has been there any efforts to somehow better integrate, and interchange things e.g. with QElectroTech?
I find only scattered information on the web, e.g. KiCAD fusion with QElectroTech and MyOpenLab - External Plugins - KiCad.info Forums.
Each application has its focus and strengths.

It seems like this would be a case for a plug-in or external tool, assuming the goal is translate between QElectroTech schematics and KiCad schematics. It is perhaps already possible as an external tool if you want to parse a subset of the XML of the QElectroTech files and the S-expressions of KiCad, but I suspect it will be a challenge. The formats (and underlying software) are not really related despite doing somewhat similar things on the surface. As you say, each software has its focus and it would be hard to translate between them in a consistent manner.

Would be nice that all the application come closer to each other to have common ecosystem to allow to compete a bit better with commercial solutions.
