Footprint Keepout Zone -> available in v6

Recently I needed to create a new footprint and after discovering that there was a manufacturer’s library in Eagle format, I imported it as KiCAD footprint (thanks to some users here at the forum :slight_smile: ).

Then I discovered there was a manufacturer recommended keepout zone (imported as Dwgs layer in KiCad).

I think this is a valuable information when routing a PCB, expecially for connectors as raised at a recent topic …

It would be a nice feature to be added to the fp format…
Is there any chance to have it in v6 release date?

@SchrodingersGat originally started to implement something like keepout handling shortly before the v5 release. It sadly never got ready and i fear he did not continue to work on it. I am not sure if somebody else took this on.

I am convinced there is at least one feature request for this.

Ross Schlaikjer has taken over my development effort, not sure where it is at currently. I hope that he’s able to get it completed and merged!
