Encrypted PSpice models

I have an enrypted Pspice model which i cant get to work. Is it even possible to add an encrypted model to a part?
When I try to add the file to the it just won’t, is there a simple solution to this?

I’m pretty sure that it is not possible to load those into KiCad. This is the reason I switched back to LTSpice. Getting models to use in KiCad is kinday annoying

Generally PSPICE, HSPICE, and (many) LTSPICE models are compatible to ngspice. Sometimes models by commercial vendors are encrypted. These cannot be used by open source ngspice.

So, unfortunately you cannot use an encrypted model.

Out of curiosity, what encrypted models work in LTSpice?

Tricky question. There are probably limitations as well. But I never ran into any issues with encrypted models with LTSpice. I don’t have any examples though.

But I was so annoyed with the model situation in KiCad, that I switched back to the absolutely awful UI of LTSpice. I’m aware though that the model problem is not your decision but a licensing issue

Although I would assume an encrypted PSpice model also doesn’t work in LTSpice or do they have a license agreement?

you might be right with this assumption

I have never had an encrypted model that LTSpice could use, though it’s been a year or so since I tried.

Yeah, it’s rather annoying - even VERY annoying - when a component manufacturer publishes a model that is proprietary to a 3rd-party tool. (Is anybody at Diodes Inc reading this?)
