I am new to KiCAD (v9.0.3) and I have ‘inherited’ a series of PCB projects. I have been able to view, modify, and create copper fill zones on the other PCBs, but KiCAD will not give me any access to any of the copper fill zones of this most recent PCB. I know for fact this PCB has NUMEROUS zones, based on existing physical PCBs created from this PCB file, the “Zone Manager” tool, and the ASCII text of the .kicad_pcb text file (which I would guess the “Zone Manager” tool reads).
I cannot see the “Draw Fill Zones” shapes with their hashing or anything. The left-most “Draw Zone Fills” button is grayed out(?). The “Draw Zones Outlines” button is grayed out. The “View”|“Drawing Modes”|“Draw Zone Fills”/“Draw Zone Outlines” menu items are also grayed out.
I can execute the DRC feature (click the “Run DRC” button) dozens of times with a checkmark next to the “Refill all zones before performing DRC” and I still cannot see the zone fills. That said, some of the errors do show the zone fills, but the zone fills and all evidence of the zone fills disappears just as quickly (So close!!! So close, I can almost click it!).
How do I work with the copper fill zones of this PCB? Like I said, I can work with the copper fill zones of the other PCBs.
PCB file stats:
6-layer
35.56mm X 83.94mm
Rectangular hole cut out of one end (…part of the design of the rest of the product)
Thanks.
