I’m having a problem with KiCad 9. A lot of times this error pops up
Saying 'KiCad error ’ / ‘invalid Zip-file’.
I have saved the projects to my google drive folder (might this be the problem?)
And I create new projects on base of old ones (save as… → then delete the schematic-parts I don’t use anymore) this seems to create lot of backup files and folders for all projects. But when I delete them, the error still pops up.
As there is no log-file I can’t give you more information - please tell me if I can check something or provide detailed information.
Release-Information:
Application: KiCad x64 on x64
You can try turning off automatic backups in Preferences → Common. Backups are saved as zip files, so it’s possible it causes some error. You can also try to open some saved backup zips to see if Windows or another zip program can handle them.
Thank you, I’ve disabled auto-backup creation. My backed-up-files can be opened so this does not seem to be a problem. I’m going to check if this works and will get back with the results
I’ve had a similar issue with corrupt zip backup-files causing Kicad 9.0 to crash quite often. After disabling the auto-backup the didn’t crash anymore.
I do have the same issue. I recently moved from KiCad 8 to 9, everything went smoothly, but this message persists. I also use Google Drive for my projects, it seems to me that this is the issue. I created a test project on my physical drive and I never get the error message.
It does not look like a big issue, because the back-ups seem to be created anyway, but interesting why. And the error message should be a bit more detailed, including which zip file and what is KiCad trying to do.
