What is "Select Items on PCB" this function for?

I found this function when Right Click on a hierarchical sheet. However, I cannot find any tutorial or cannot figure out how to use this function.

If you want to do an action like Delete all the traces and vias, but retain the footprints, you click on this an are given the opportunity to Select what you want to effect.

I don’t know why you say that. It selects those components in the board editor which belong to this hierarchical sheet. (The context menu belongs to a hierarchical sheet.)

Edit: the board must be open simultaneously, otherwise it does nothing.
