What is it called when an SMD LED is mounted under the PCB and shines through a drill?

Hi,

I saw this ages ago on a youtube video but haven’t been able to find it again. I’d like to put all the SMD components under a PCB I’m designing, and leave the top side clean for connectors. There are two LED indicators, so showing them through the board would be ideal.

It’s possible this is a standard footprint already in KiCad but I don’t know what I’m searching for. Any ideas what that’s called?

Thanks,
Geoff

Do you mean, by any chance, something like ‘bottom-entry’ (that’s how Digi-Key lists them) or ‘reverse mount’?

Looks easy enough to make.

Thanks - knowing what to search for is often the biggest hurdle!
