What is a TO_SOT_Package?

I am seeking a footprint for an AP1117-33 regulator. Groping around in the dark I selected
TO_SOT_Packages:TO-220-3_Vertical
It looks likely. Am I on the right track? Anyway, what on earth is a TO_SOT_Package?

The name indicates that the library contains both TO packages and SOT packages. Check the datasheet and/or your supplier for which package is available for the AP1117-33. The TO-220-3-Vertical is a 3 pin TO-220 through hole package that stands vertically.

Thanks - looks like I got the right bit.

FTR I discover that SOT stands for Small Outline Transistor which is a surface mount type.
