I must have activated some mode, and now everything is very dim and dull. I went back to another computer running 6, and confirmed that the colors are much brighter.
you pressed " ā " charachter ?
Not sure.
Pressing that again didnāt change anything.
What does it do?
Itās the shortcut for highlighting net. But it doesnāt work for example with Finnish keyboard.
Euhm, almost, but not really.
@Claudio.Lorini showed a quotation mark, or apostophe, while the highlight is (by default) under the back tick key. (Upper left corner, just under [Esc] on an English / US Keyboard.
But I compared colors and what 3Dogs posted has different colors from the highlighting, so Iām not sure what is going on. I also wonder why the bottom copper layer is not shown. Is it off?
Edit:
High contrast mode (As JeffYoung posted below) also seems unlikely. That dims the ānon selectedā layers, but does not change the color of the active copper layer.
Are you in high-contrast mode?
I think is has something to do with āThemes.ā
Itās not a big problem, Iāll live with it.
There should be a āclassicā theme which will give you the old colours. (Though the new ones are better for people that have some level of colour blindness.)
Me? No, itās just that the backtick ā`ā has never worked for me. Itās not an independent one click character in my keyboard, itās a ādead keyā. I can reach the shortcut only by switching the keyboard layout. Also some other default shortcuts which require more than one key donāt work, at all (itās impossible to attach a shortcut to some characters even though they can be typed using AltGr).
thatās correct, i meant the back tick that is the default key (in my āsmallā keyboard is missing so i associated the select net to " ā ").
Sorry, no, I meant to be asking the original poster if they were in high-contrast modeā¦
I cycled through āH,ā and that didnāt fix it.
Iām not sure what the actual problem is in your screenshot. Everything there looks normal, except that youāre using the āclassicā color theme rather than the default for 6+. Is this what you mean? The classic theme is more ādullā.
Now Iām not sureā¦
It may be some monitor calibration issue.
The colors look very different on my two machines, but it all may come down to the fact that I havenāt calibrated my monitors since changing computers.
I think this can be closed.
Nope, we can see those colors in our web browser to.
I think craftyjonās last post is on the mark.
If I go to: PCB Editor / Preferences / Preferences / PCB Editor / Colors and set the āThemeā to āKiCad Classicā, then I get the same #840000 red color for the top layer as on your screenshot.
Also: In the āKiCad Classicā theme, the bottom layer is green, while in the newer āKiCad Defaultā theme, the bottom layer is light blue.
So it looks like your thoughts here were right:
