WAGO board clamps with separate pins

Hi,

I want to create WAGO Series 252 TerminalBlock using the footprint-generator.
First I have a basic question. This Terminal blocks are not soldered directly to PCB. They are two variants…

  1. Solder a pinheader strip to the board then plug terminal block to PCB
  2. Solder individual pins to board, plug terminal block.
    (2nd variant has lower height)

So how to accomblish this? So the easiest way would be to incorparte the pins to the footprint, but that’s logically not correct, because you will miss the pins from your BOM.
So I would just mark the pins positions in the comments layer and make extra footprints for pinstrips and solder pins?

Several points for you.

  1. You only need include a single connector in the schematic.
  2. On the pcb place the pin header portion, but make sure you have enough space around the header to prevent mechanical interference. This is called a courtyard.

There may be an existing footprint that is compatible with wago. I use the pluggable header on lots of projects.
