I have Kicad version 5.0.0 installed on my secondary drive. When I go to install version 5.0.2 I get a warning that files will be overwritten. Does the install only overwrite the application files? Will the installation overwrite my preferences and custom libraries?
Not with the default installers. At least not if you have your custom libs outside of the system directories. (I never tested if having them in the system directory would delete them)
A big problem if you modify the supplied libraries, which is why we strongly recommend to use your own custom libraries.
These should be in directories that do not need Admin rights to write to.
