V9 bottom status bar size

Note: this posting also applies to Layout

I have installed V9 on a new notebook, while v8 is still running on my desktop workhorse. Both systems are Linux KDE machines.
On the laptop, I see that the bottom status areas is somewhat taller (height) than on v8. Especially on the schematic I can clearly see that the line distance is bigger. I’d prefer to have a status area that occupies not more space than in v8.
Probably I can control something like this in the settings, but I don’t see anything like that. Theoretically, the fonts could be different. That’s the only thing that is left over to explain the height “consumption” of this bar.

All I can say is that there is no difference on windows (left 9, right 8)

Hm, thanks for checking that. Then it must be related to some (font?) detail differences on the two computers. But… I also see another difference: thin gray lines that optically partition the status areas (see screenshot).

Next is: the characters in your Windows system have a lower x-height compared to the ascending height (height of letters like l or h). This ratio does not apply to Arial, or even Calibri. In your case, I can’t identify the font.
As a comparison for you: my screenshot, where the x-height/ascendant height ratio is more common.

I think that a certain font is specified in the source code. If a given platform does not have that font, then it depends on OS-based rules of replacement font usage. Remark: fonts may also have different default line spacings.

Yes, Windows 11 to be precise. I tried to say that in my last comment, but it might got misunderstood as a general “window”

Well, before you wrote that, I had recognized that you wrote it, er, “windows”, so I edited my original text. Your quote simply proves that…

Finally, I started to present a direct comparison in schematic. I already mentioned that the line spacing is bigger here (resulting in a bigger difference than in Layout).
But… after I prepared the direct comparison in Schematic as you did, I found the difference quite heavy. Then I realized that I had set a screen scaling factor of 112.5 % (in KDE) because of readability of a 1920x1200 screen in laptop size. Indeed this makes a difference.

After having set scaling to 100 %, the difference in Schematic is a bit less - see comparison screenshot below. Without having compared it again, I guess that in Layout, the difference - if any - is no longer present.

Left: v9; right:v8
And here’s the image in Schematic @ scaling 112.5 %:

Remark: I have set the lower screenshot to 100 % size, because at 50 or 75, no zoom option is offered by the forum software, contrary to images that would exceed the text width area in original size.
