Just updated to version 6.04 on windows 10.
I found it’s very easy to crash or forzen when I started PCB Editor or Schetatic Editor and touched any key on keyboard. Not every time, but this happened very frequently. Any key, like hotkey M, even the Esc.
It wouldn’t crash if only mouse was used to handle the operation. Like right click to choose Move, Delete etc.
Didn’t face this situation on the old version 5.
Have you tried Testing? There have been a lot of fixes for what will be 6.0.5
If the crashing occurs mostly on keyboard-use: are you using microsoft pinyin?
Haven’t yet. Will try it later.
You can just download the Lite build and install it. This leave the libraries alone.
Do NOT try a Nightly build, you cannot go back to V6
Right. I’m using Microsoft Pinyin. I’ll try Microsoft English(USA) and update later.
There are known issues with Microsoft Pinyin, the gitlab-issue is Microsoft Pinyin causes KiCad freezing (#9882) · Issues · KiCad / KiCad Source Code / kicad · GitLab.
If I recall correctly an intermediate solution is to use some sort of compatibility mode.
