Using the KiCad Logo

As a long time KiCAD user (although new to the forum) I am considering adding a KiCAD logo to a commercial (opensource but sold for profit) design (PCB silkscreen)

I checked the licensing page and the logo use was not explicitly mentioned - assumption the logo is free to use under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 3. license (edited: its actually as described here: https://kicad.org/libraries/license/). Furthermore the official libraries include footprints for the logo in various sizes.

That said it would be good to check there was something I had not missed about this?

@Rene_Poschl can probably tell you for sure but since the logos are included in the official libraries they would be subject to whatever license covers the libs. Not sure who would hunt you down and extract revenge on you though.

Yep so just checked that specifically: https://kicad.org/libraries/license/
I guess its more of a concern about using the KiCAD “brand” on a board. maybe more of an etiquette question than a licensing question.

The etiquette says that using the logo is recommended because the more KiCad gets visibility the better. Especially in high quality products. But on the other hand, IANAEL (I’m not an etiquette lawyer). again.
