Using Eagle 'design blocks'

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies I’ve had so far on my other questions about moving to Eagle, but I’ve got a very specific question today.

Is it possible to use or import Eagle Design Blocks in any way?

I’ve got quite an extensive ‘library’ of design blocks built up and tested that I re-use often to drop into designs. Things like proven SMPS blocks all the way up to a complete Gb ethernet switches. These are literally blocks of schematic and laid out PCB that can be dropped into a new design.

Does KiCad have a feature like design blocks to save areas of a design to be able to re-use them?

No, unfortunately.

There is, however at least one plugin that is supposed to do that.

Check out “Plugin and Content Manager” for “Schematic Blocks Plugin”.
I have not tried this.
