Yes, just remember to select the “recommended” option when you are asked about the libraries, otherwise you will not have the upgraded Kicad 8.0.0 libraries.
As far as I can tell, settings, when carried over, does not include Hotkey modifications you have made.
They will have to be remade after the installation. Personal libraries will also have to be installed by you.
