Upgrades on Linux

Hello.
Has the suggested ppa for upgrading KiCad to the latest stable changed ?

I have the ppa.launchpad.net/js-reynaud/kicad-5.1 in my software sources list. I think I just did an upgrade, but KiCad still showing version 5.1.2.

Will the new upgrade really matter that much ?

Thanks !

If you’re running Debian buster as I do, there is a backports that got me to stable version 5.1.6.
# cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/buster-backports.list
deb https://repository.solydxk.com solydxk-10 main upstream import
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian buster main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org buster/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian buster-updates main contrib non-free

Before this I used 5.1.5. I never used 5.1.2, so can’t answer your question. I think there have been some new features since 5.1.5, but I cannot name one.

I think there is an official repository for Ubuntu now see here: https://kicad.org/download/ubuntu/

Can’t provide any experiences using it, I don’t have Ubuntu.
