Upgrade to 5.1.0, all components on Bottom Layer Disappear Now!

I just upgraded to 5.1.0, and when I open an existing projects PCB layout all the components are missing on the bottom layer. When I go to place a new component and flip it to the bottom layer the component completely disappears. At this moment in time I cannot place components on the bottom layer, very frustrating.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Using 3D Viewer I can see the components on the bottom layer. I just have no means of moving them or selecting them.

on the right side there are visibility opions for layers and items. In the items tab there is a tickmark that controls visibility of footprints per layer. Make sure this is checked.

Awesome Thanks Rene_Poschi

You’re probably importing old projects to Kicad 5.1.0.
I had exactly the same issue. Footprints on bottom layer, visible in old KiCad (4.x.x) are invisible by default on 5.x.x

Is this just a missed setting, or is it a bug that turns of visibility by itself at some point?

I’d expect it to be a bug/import issue. Was in the OP’s position looking for missing footprints, until someone here pointed me to the Visibility panel. Now if I open some old project board, not touched for some time, first thing is to turn on Bottom fooprints display - never disabled their visibility in the old version.
