Updating PCB after minor change moves a big component

I changed the way a couple of power pins are fed to a part, and now when I update the PCB, it rotates/moves the part, causing a lot of headache. Is there any way to avoid this? It seems like a bug. Here’s what it looks like after the update (I’ve tried it with and without “Re-link footprints”):

U1 (the large pink component) is rotated 90° from its horizontal orientation indicated by the blue ground plane.

ETA: It seems I can’t select the moved U1 in order to correct this. I can select individual pads, but not the whole thing.

ETA2: Hmm, it seems the footprint has changed. I’m not sure why.

I would guess that you have “keep annotations” unchecked and reannotated the entire schematic. Than it can happen that designators have their numbers changed.

Could this be the case?

It does is strange that it is just rotated. Have you changed a footprint?

My other guess would be that the footprint is changed somehow.

Not being able to select, would seem that component is locked. Can you rule that out?

A changed footprint may have it’s 0, 0 coordinate at some fubar place. That could cause trouble as well

Edit: didn’t read eta2 or eta1 :see_no_evil:

The Footprint is definitely locked, (because of the pink brackground). So just unlock it (you may need to adjust the selection filter to be able to select locked objects).

It’s possible the footprint was rotated in the new version. In this case just rotate it back properly one time and you should be fine. However the new footprint seems to be missing some mounting holes?

Yeah, I think I changed the footprint without thinking. I put it back to what it was and all is well.
