I updated to 5.1.6 and everything is OK.
I played with the track-shifting function “D” (love this thing). my settings are to only highlight collisions and that is working too. But when I get near a pad it is not highlighted but simply vanishes for the time of the collision.
Maybe this is intentional to give a good oversight ? I dont think this was before (always modern canvas)

I tried drivers nvidia-340.108.0ubuntu0.18.04.1 and nuveau 1:1.015-2 .
Behavior is always the same.
But Hey ! I just tried a NEW project and it is as you said !
It may be related to my layer settings or to the old project (5.1.5) I will try to find the reason and keep you informed …

I tested with a single-layer home made PCB. Top-Layer was switched off. If I activate the Top-Layer I see the bright green ! I would not call it a bug mere an inconvenience…
