I am running 8.0.4 and have noticed something I don’t remember when I was still using v7. When I do an ‘Update PCB from Schematic’ for the first time after opening a project, it sometimes takes a long time for the pop-up window to appear with the update options. On larger boards, it can be 15-20 seconds. During this time the PCB editor is frozen. This happens on all of the computers on which I use KiCad. I don’t remember this taking this long before… It’s not a huge deal, I was just wondering if something could have changed during my upgrade to 8.0.4.
What sort of complexity do your PCB’s have?
I use the Olinuxino A64 Rev-C for general benchmarking. Schematic Editor / Tools / Update PCB from Schematic [F8] takes 2 or 3 seconds to startup, the first time and also about 2s for the Update PCB part the first time I run it. The second time it’s noticeably quicker, less then 2s each.
My PC has a Ryzen 5600G and I’m running Linux Mint.
For benchmarking a “large” board, you can use “BoatControl”.
