I’ve just moved KiCAD to a new Ubuntu 24.10 machine and when I create a new project and try to save it I get the error “Error saving schematic file…” like:
It seems to be trying to save a schematic with a null filename.
Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

Does it work correctly if you attempt to save locally? I seem to remember there were some known issues with dropbox in particular.
Also, I see you are running 8.0.8. The full version info might be pertinent.
I dunno. This wasn’t a problem loading a project from the old Linux System that was on Dropbox.
I’m saying “I dunno” because I just restarted KiCAD and got this:
Is it time to uninstall and reinstall KiCAD?
Uninstalled and reinstalled - now things are almost working properly.
Now, everything seems to work okay except that for my old projects, when I look at the 3D model (Alt-3), the component files don’t appear.
Anybody have any idea what’s happening here?
