I am trying to download KiCAD to my computer that runs Windows 11Pro. Is there something I’m missing as far as possible conflicts?
Did you have any problems? If so, what kind?
You can try to download the Kicad installation file using Free Download Manager - maybe your connection is breaking from time to time. FDM should help you.
download incomplete or when it did completely download, unable to locate file. Followed instructions on Download Manager.
I have never noticed (using KiCad since 2017) any problem with downloading Windows version (after selecting Windows I click CERN… then I have to select a location where I want .exe be saved (I’m using Opera internet browser).
This I don’t understand. Don’t you have to specify where you want file be saved?
But I have downloaded only working with Win7 or Win10. Should I be afraid what will happen when I will have to move to Win11?
On my W11 PCs, I just save to the default “Downloads” and run the installers from there, using the default installation directories. This works for V8 releases, Testing and Nightly builds
First, I click on the blue download box. Next, I select Windows as the OS. Then, I select 64-bit w64 North America Clarkson University and the download box appears showing the download occurring. What I see in Downloads is one file is kicad-8.0.5 -x86_64 with 1,210,150kb. This time everything worked. I’m still not sure why I was only getting partial downloads. Perhaps, not enough disc space? If i encounter any more problems, I will post.
Can be problem with ISP (I had something like that in the past - I need to download big files few times until they were downloaded correctly), not enough space on disk or antyvirus software - (false positive). To find the files on your computer lightning fast I recommend to install the Everything software from Void tools Everything.
It is amazing - especially where you do not know where your files are located.
