Tracking UL controlled parts

Pondering ways to track UL controller components in a design and wondering what others do?

One idea is to add a field to each controlled schematic part named “Control” populated with the value UL (or whatever), which could be displayed or hidden. Then PLM tools (like GitPLM) could look for differences between previous and current BOM versions, and if it is a controlled part, verify the MPN did not change. The label in the schematic would also be useful for designers when making changes.
