Tools for double checking your work in KiCad

Hey everyone,

I recently started using KiCad for designing PCBs for crossovers in loudspeakers. I am more used to working in Pad2Pad, however I am enjoying the workflow in KiCad and was curious about what techniques/tools exist within KiCad to double check your copper/via/pad connections.

In Pad2Pad, you can select a copper region and press Alt + C to highlight all traces/pads/vias that are connected to this copper region. Is there a similar tool in KiCad that does this?

Thanks in advance,

Rafael

You may also want to look at cross-probing between schematic and layout.

You run DRC (Design Rule Check) and you have your PCB checked.

Typically simple programs (for example those which exist solely for purpose of making some service more alluring, like this one seems to be) have some features which are easy to use and work well. It’s possible you will miss that user experience and workflow if you move to another program. A more versatile and powerful program is necessarily also more complex.

Without trying the said program or understanding exactly what you want, I would say KiCad has several powerful features which will help you to achieve the same purpose, and even more. Some tools have already been mentioned. You have much to learn. But when you get a grasp, you won’t want to go back.
