Text Variables not working anymore!

Hello,
I smell a potential bug, could you please confirm by reproducing(Version: 9.0.3+1, release build)?
When I enter “${” in a new text field regardless of whether in schematic or layout, I don’t get the proposition field of available variables anymore.

In an old project, where I already have fields with text variables it’s the same. Only when I modify an existing text field already containing variables, only then I get the propositions popping up.

Thank you.
Hannes

everything variable substitution seems to be working normal.
Suggestions during editing, if ever worked (i never noticed such feature), doesn’t seem to be active here too.

Since there were recently some complains about the strength of the ‘suggestion whisperer’ during text editing, is possible that some feature doesn’t work as in previous versions anymore…

Recently there was a bug where it was not possible to enter texts that were only slightly different then texts which were already in use.

I don’t know what the “+1” is, but V9.0.3 is getting a bit old now. V9.0.4 was released a month ago.

Ok, good to know.
We can only update our KiCad, when it’s available from the debian backports and this one is the latest version.
The version information is just what I copied from the “About/Version” section.
