Text size issue

i am using kicad 7.0 & when how can i change default text size of footprint. i am try with Preference setting but after change it did not save. Even i change & set with value 1.27 mm for width , Hight & Thikness is 0.25 mm . It shows default value 1 mm again…

While I accept that you can use the “Edit Text and Graphics Properties” dialogue to change the size, I also find it annoying that you cant set a default. I regularly use 0.8/0.8/0.15 for my designator size (small PCBs, small parts) and every time I change a part on the schematic and update the PCB I have to go and edit the new parts. It would just be nice if you could set a default somewhere. I use V8 and I cant see any preference for it.

3 ideas:

  1. define your footprints correctly so the default designator size suites your taste
  2. maybe a different workflow would help: do the brightening work only at the end of the board design?
  3. You may also look under board setup–>Text&graphics–>defaults and set default values for silkscreen text. Afterwards you scroll one panel lower board setup–>Text&graphics–>Formatting and play with the “When adding footprints to board” checkboxes. (note: I don’t use this myself, I prefer approach 1. So this may help or may not help)

I just saw it there - previously I was looking under preferences. Will play around but I’m sure I’ll be able to make something work for me here.

yes. After tick Reference designer it will change & work perfact But for that we do this thing after design pcb. while i need to set it for when we update pcb from schamatics. at that time also saved value will again change.

in my case it does not show.

I’m sorry. I overlooked that you are using a older Kicad v7 version. That feature was introduced only with kicad v8. (which was the version the user spoddy is using)
