Text not smooth in 3d Viewer (Old Laptop with integated GPU)

I normally use my main PC with KiCad which has a decent GPU it in and and have not run into this issue before.

I am now using my laptop to design a PCB (PC is out of action) and running into a strange issue with the 3D viewer where the text (F.SilkS) looks corrupt. (I’m guessing this is purely cosmetic but would like to see what it looks like before submitting to the PCB house)

I’m assume its something to do with the GPU on the laptop. Its a integrated GPU in a Intel 3650 CPU (So nothing special). This is the only area where I’m seeing the issue.

Is there any tweaks I can try to get the text to display correctly?

I’ve played around with various render options in the 3D viewer but none of them made and difference to this issue.

Hi gmc,

Could you rise a bug for it on the official kicad issue tracker?

Do you only experience it in the silkscreen?
As there is no different from rendering silkscreen or copper tracks… etc…

Thanks, I’ll raise a bug.

It only happens with the silkscreen. The copper traces/pads etc are all clear.

It does look a bit weird, I give you that.
It is however very unlikely it would have any influence on the Gerber files sent to a Fab house. Gerbers are vector format files.

You should also always do a final inspection of the Gerber files themselves before sending them out, and not rely on the 3D viewer.
