Hi,
I found out that the Text Label orientation is not described in the files format :
0 : Left
1 : Up
2 : Right
3 : Down
Hope it can be useful in that forum.
I suggest for a future version of Kicad an extra orientation : 4 for Center

The direction corresponds to an angle (0-360). Which direction is center ?? That doesn’t make sense…
Well, it is the middle of left and right. But, it needs to calculate the length of the text to find it middle point.

You are talking about alignment, which is different to direction. Other text fields have alignment attributes, I guess it was not seen as useful for text notes. Generally the handling of text fields is quite inconsistent.
Anyway, the file format is frozen, since there will be a new format in future.
