Hi, silkscreen text should be readable from normal view and from the right side of the board, right? Ticking the “Keep upright” makes the text only rotatable by 90°, from normal view to being readable from the right; on top layer. But for bottom layer text, ticking the keep upright option leads to the text rotating from normal to being readable from the left side.
Is this intentional? So by now, If I want the bottom side silkscreen to be readable like the top side, I have to uncheck this option for all bottom side text elements (to make them rotatable freely). Is this true/intentional or did I get something wrong?
It seems to behave like you said, and I’m not sure if I like it. There’s logic to it, though: to keep texts readable in the “standard” position you have to flip the board around the y axis. Now, if you rotate the board in your hand so that you can read rotated text, you can flip the board again around the current y axis, and rotated texts are still in the right correct rotation for reading. The same board edge works as the base line.
Indeed, it’s a matter of viewpoint. Well, because on most of the PCBs I have lying around here rotated text is readable by rotating it clockwise in z-axis from standard position, and it’s the standard behaviour in EAGLE where I come from.
