The editors that come with KiCad for these tasks are quite good and have a very similar UI to other programs in the KiCad suite.
In fact, the quality of these editors was one of the mayor reasons for me to start with KiCad in the first place.
In the past, a long long time ago, I was stuck with almost unusable editors to may my own components, and no internet to downoad them from. Stuff for nightmares.
