STEP Model Tweaking - Simplified Tutorial

It occurred to me that some users use STEP models they downloaded from various sites and user may want or need to modify them.

Basically, features of STEP models can’t be modified as-is, they need to be manipulated into usable model.

There are basically several ways to do this - two of them are:
• Mesh them, Convert to solid, then Add/Cut features.
• Another way is this usable shortcut

Success may depend on the STEP model and the Second method is the simplest to start from - shown in this video:

The Process uses my preferred FreeCad workbench:

PartDesign (workbench) > New Part
New Body
Import desired STEP model
Drag & Drop it into the Body (it becomes a BaseFeature)

It’s now a Solid that can be modified by Cutting and Adding (termed Pocketing and Padding)

Again, you can’t modify what is there, you can only remove and add features…

The example uses a STEP model I recently made for a User that wanted to Modify a downloaded STEP…
