I’m using isolated topology resistor network: 4 resistors in SIP8 package, organized like this:
The default part in KiCad library Resistor_THT:R_Array_SIP8 has a weird pin assignment, i.e. pad 1 is R1.1, pad 2 is R2.1, etc. I have to change it to conform to the package shown above, i.e. pad 1 is R1.1, pad 2 is R1.2, etc. When I examine board layout:
pad 2 properties don’t have a field to edit the corresponding pin from 2.1 to 1.2. How can I do it?
Is there a “normal” SIP8 individual resistor network footprint available somewhere, so I don’t have to struggle with editing? I tried SnapEDA, but couldn’t find it there.
Me too . . . it’s in the Device section in the Rs, or just simply search for R_Pack04_SIP
I have upgraded from Ver 6 and brought my libraries across . . . not sure if that makes a difference, I would have thought that this resistor network would have been standard in Ver 7 though.
I don’t use KiCad libraries (and don’t see them) so it is only a guess.
I suppose that names R1.1 etc in your case don’t come from footprint but from your schematic.
I suppose footprint has pins only numbered: 1,2,3,… and for SIP8 whatever there is connection inside the footprint is the same.
I write it only to let you understand better the relation between symbol and footprint.
If OP had written pin 1, etc. instead of pad 1 etc. the paragraph would be ok. Pin names like R1.1 are not odd. In fact the names are a clue that in the corresponding package the resistors are across the width, thus R1.2 is on pin 8 and R2.2 is on pin 7, and so forth, and this can be corroborated by looking at the symbol.
