[SOLVED] Adjusting Text Position in Symbol Editor

Hi all.

I’m trying to create a symbol for a DIP-8 chip, it works but the text position is a bit off, and I cannot find the option to move the text, nor edit the spacing parameters…

For example, the lower image is a part shipped with the default library. The text is close to the pin. The upper image is my part, there’s a large space between the part and the text.

However, it seems that there’s no parameter in the setting to adjust the spacing. Could anyone give me a tip? Thanks!

the gear-symbol (symbol properties) opens a dialog with “pin name position offset”.
that offset is the same for all pins.

Also, if you want your personal symbols (and footprints) to look visually similar to the default libraries you might want to peruse the KiCad Library Convention (KLC) here:

Specifically for your question you are looking at section 3.6, “Pin name position offset”.

Thanks for everyone’s help! The KLC design guideline is particularly helpful.
