Please feel free to add your vote to the “Snap to grid when dragging track in OpenGL” bug
In the OpenGL canvas, by “select” mode are you referring to pressing ESC so that there are no other tools selected (just the arrow at the top)? How do you “drag” a track in this mode? I can select a track or via and then press ‘M’ (or right-click and select ‘Move’) but I cannot “drag” a track by pressing ‘D’. When I move a track in this mode it does snap to the grid, although it will also snap to other entities that happen to be off-grid.
Yes, “select mode” is the default one, when no tool is selected. In this mode in OpenGL canvas you can click and drag tracks and vias but they are not snapping to grid. In turn in the “draw track” mode (press “X”) you can drag tracks and vias by pressing “D” over them and they are snapped to grid.
Yes, you can click on an item and while holding the left mouse button you can “move” it, but that is not “dragging” in the KiCAD sense. But it does snap to the grid for me in that mode. I am using 4.0.1-stable Windows 7, 64.
Hmmm, it’s not snapping to grid in the latest nighty build so it’s actually a bug, not a wishlist “bug”.
It was been fixed in the latest nightly builds, many thanks to the developers!
Can I turn it off? I don’t like snapping when dragging tracks.
