Silkscreen no longer visible above copper fill?

I feel like I am going crazy.

Up until last week, whenever I’ve made a PCB (from version 5 to 9) using top/bottom fills, the silkscreen has always been visible over the top (like so):

This was great for me as I was able to quickly check where everything was when trying to make a logical layout.

As of today, all silkscreen contents have disappeared beneath the copper - but ONLY with PCB’s created in Kicad 9 (even for files created last week which I could previously see the silkscreen fine on). I can hide each copper layer and see the silkscreen again, but this is inconvenient. I’ve checked every view, stackup and transparency option I can find, and I can’t get the silkscreen back on top.

(add image in the comments as I can only include 1)

Anybody got an idea what is going on?

Have you tried adjusting this zones transparency slider?

Also can you check if you’re using Accelerated or Fallback graphics in Preferences?

Had zone transparency at about 50%. Opened the file on another machine and everything was as normal (with the same transparency), saved it, then opened on the original machine - and now it’s all visible again.

Bizarre but it’s fixed - thanks!

the rendering order also depends on the layer you currently have selected on the right
