I’m on Win 7 64bit and KiCad is 2015-07-24 BZR 5989, Git 8b9c794.
I installed Kicad on the weekend and have had great fun with it. I’ve been able to suss out most things I need by watching some vids on youtube. Just one problem so far, as you probably guessed from the title, it’s the S/S gfx. I have made my logo in .bmp, .png and .jpg and in different resolutions the outcome is always the same. First I tried Bitmap2component, selected Pcbnew and Front silk screen and export it and it makes a .kicad_mod file. Then I go into Pcbnew open the Footprints Library Manager/Wizard and I can see the file but it says it is INVALID.
I have also tried http://img2mod.wayneandlayne.com/ , both old and new converters, but I still get INVALID. I have spent most of today trying different permutations of graphic format, resolution and converter - no luck… and yes I watched both of the CS vids but they were using an old version of Kicad and it looks like things have changed since they were made.
Does anybody know how to fix this? Any help would be appreciated, thx.
