Schematic: Text on fields in Symbol properties window cannot be seen

  1. Place a component onto the schematic sheet.
  2. Hover the mouse over it and type the letter e.
  3. If you try to write something into the “Value” column then the text dissapears and you cannot see what you’re writing; however, the text you wrote shows up if you click on another cell.
  4. Sometimes a right click lets you see what you’ve written.

That’s annoying when you try to write the actual component’s value!

That’s not ok, however a turnaround is to hover the mouse over the text you want to change while in the schematic sheet, and then a single window shows up and you can edit such field (designator, value, or footprint (if visible)).

I’m using Linux Mint Cinnamon 20.3

Yeah I’ve been banging my head against this one for a couple years now lol.

Listed as “fix committed” but none of the fixes ever seem to work perfectly.

If there’s a flatpak available for your Linux I think it’s got a 3.1 version of wxWidgets in it which might address this issue. (But I’m a Mac guy so I haven’t followed it very closely and might be all wet…)
