When making a schematic symbol, I carefully choose the alignment and position of the Ref designator. But when I place it on the schematic, the alignment is reset to center, and it is moved to above the center middle of the component. How does one make it not automatically choose “better” settings for you?
You can disable it in Preferences -> Eeschema -> Symbol Field Automatic Placement.
Brillant thank you! I went through the preferences, but obviously not carefully enough.
Maybe I should have posted the complete screenshot. Apparenty users have been burnt by this before. You have to click on the “Eeschema” tree item itself.
Is this approach working for you? In the schematic, I set reference and value in a different position relative to the element for almost every element. It is to not have ref and val written at another element.
