On past versions of KiCad, when I select an area and click “save block” it shows up wwith the paste icon. this doesn’t appear to be happening anymore. Is this my system’s issue?
Hm… never did that before. Just tested it on BZR6608 Win7 64bit. To paste the saved block I had to click on the ‘Paste’ icon in the top tool bar (depicts clipboard with paper on it)
But can’t see a paste icon, unless above is it.
I have been at it for a while and had given up on cut and paste as I had read other people complaining about the same missing.
Now I see now how this works ;
When you highlight a block (left click and drag),
- If you just release the mouse button it allows you to move that block with the mouse.
-
If you hit C it will make a second copy within the block that you can move and drop somewhere.
I knew about these… but not this
-
If you hit Ctrl C then it goes to the clipboard and you can move to another sheet and paste it there. You seem to have to use the clipboard symbol between Preferences and Tools.
Well this is going to save some work.
Same as Joan had mentioned above but the three commands were confusing me a little.
it is a bit non-logical that the normal right-click-mouse button and select copy cannot be used
instead this block copy magical button
i filed a blue-print for that,
also once you paste your block into another schematic page, kiss goodbye to your reference designators.
you should be able to choose if to keep refdes and/or net-names
