Save as and Print dialog should suggest something for a file name

I wonder if this is a Windows 10 or a KiCad feature, but at least “Save as” and “Print” dialogs give an empty file name for the new name. Project or Schematic file name are usually better

In both the Schematic Editor and PCB editor (I’m still on ver 6.x!!!) there is no “save as” option, there’s a “save copy as” (or similar), and that suggests the current name.

Not seeing any filename prompt for the Print function… (unless I use the windows “print to PDF” option, but that’s Windows, not KiCad!)

Can you therefore tell us which KiCad version / OS you are on, and where specifically you see this behaviour? (Help / About, then “copy version info”)

You quessed correctly, one problem was while making a pdf.

. Downloads is just an empty folder for this demo. Saving the schema is really saving a copy, and has a real file name. But saving the whole project with a new name as “Save As” gives an empty file name
