Routeing Traces limited to 45°, how to use the hotekeys?

Hello,

for a design I need free angle traces, but I do not how to use thise in KiCAD.

What I tried:

  1. Pcbnew: Preferences ->PcbNew:
    Editing Options -> Limit graphic Lines to H, V and 45 degrees : Disabled(not active)
    Editing Options-> Limit tracs to H, V and 45 degrees : Disabled(not active)

  2. In the right bar I select: “Route tracs”

  3. Left Mouse Click on the PCB to start a Track

  4. Press the Key “G” to route a free angle segment

I can not get KiCAD to route free angle traces, all I can do is Press the Key “G” on existing Tracs and manipulate them.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you very much for helping in advance.

Best Regards, Seppel

Hello,

ok, Route from the menu bar …

But then it does not seem to be possible to switch back with pressing the key “D” to the 45° angle mode? Why?

Thanks a lot, Best Regards, Seppel

An alternative method:

You can put Pcbnew / Route / Interactive Router Settings back to what they were, which goes back to 45 degree mode, and then you can use the g shortcut key to grab a corner and move it around in any angle mode.

But beware that when you bump into such angled settings while routing another track with the interactive router, it tends to re-route that other track to make room for what you’re currently drawing, and it puts it back in 45 degree mode.
